REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 11, 2009 – CubeTree today announced the availability of its enterprise collaboration suite, the industry’s first free enterprise intranet product built on a powerful social networking platform. In addition to the people-centric features offered on today’s most popular consumer social networking sites – user profiles, follow/follower news feeds, micro-blogging, etc. – CubeTree offers enterprise collaboration tools including wikis, file sharing, polls and more.
“Companies recognize the link between collaboration technology and employee productivity. Unfortunately, overflowing inboxes and the current state of most companies’ intranets fail to connect employees effectively and help them collaborate efficiently. To reap the full benefits from any collaboration technology, everyone in an organization must have access,” said Carlin Wiegner, chief executive officer and co-founder of CubeTree. “We believe the social networking technology that originated in the consumer space can revolutionize enterprise collaboration. CubeTree is the first product in our space that offers everyone in an organization access to all features including wikis, user profiles and micro-blogging for free.”
CubeTree Highlights:
“Social networking technologies are profoundly changing the way people connect with family and friends. However at work, email and IM are still the dominant online communications media. I believe that is destined to change with products like CubeTree, which help companies create enterprise social networks,” said Mitch Kapor, an investor in CubeTree and software pioneer, who founded many successful organizations including Lotus Development, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Mozilla Foundation. “I invested in CubeTree because I believe that social networking technology will be at the heart of the next generation of enterprise collaboration.”
CubeTree offers three versions of its enterprise collaboration suite – Basic, Professional and Enterprise. The Basic version is free to unlimited users within a company network and includes all social networking and collaborative features, SSL for all traffic and 10 MB of storage per user. Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition offer additional storage and management features. Professional Edition can be purchased by a set of users within a company and costs USD $3 per user per month. Enterprise Edition provides more comprehensive administrative features, and requires a license for every user in the organization and costs USD $5 per user per month. Volume discounts for both Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition are available for more than 500 seats.
