Features: Your Tools

One of the strengths of CubeTree is that it has so many built-in tools.

Wiki

CubeTree includes a full-featured, built-in wiki. A wiki is a Web page that is easy for anyone to create or edit. You don't need to know how to program to create one. Wikis are a great way to share written content with your co-workers.

View a wiki page

As you can see, a wiki page looks just like a regular Web page. You'll notice that it's easy to print or view the history of the page. Every wiki page has a version history. This shows you who created the page and who made changes to each revision. You can even view diffs across any two versions.

Version history

Wiki pages on CubeTree are also very easy to edit. Simply click the "Edit" button. Once there, you'll see that editing a wiki page is as easy as editing an email or Microsoft Word document. There is rich text formatting, tables, embedded images and more.

Edit a Page

Other than being easy to edit, one of the most important capabilities of a wiki is making it easy for someone to track changes to a wiki page. CubeTree has several options for change tracking.

When saving a page, you can decide whether you want to create a feed item.

Footer of edit wiki page

It's easy for users to interact with wiki pages. Anyone can follow updates, add comments, and share wiki content. Creators have additional controls to lock the page from edits and to hide the content completely.

Wiki Actions

Ever wonder who is viewing your content? Are people following important revisions? CubeTree provides visual tracking of page views and revisions for every wiki page, complete with links to view the change.

CubeTree wikis even support partner widgets. Embed a Google Calender, a Scribd document or a SlideShare presentation to add rich media content to your shared wiki pages. The list of supported widgets is long and growing.

You will see these feed items in your "My Follows Feed" if you're following the person who edited the page or have chosen to follow the page regardless of who makes changes.

Finally, you can also choose to be notified by email when a page changes.

Blogs

CubeTree features a built-in blogging platform that makes it easy to regularly share your thoughts or opinions in a format that is longer than the short updates that micro-blogging supports. The blog editor is as easy to use as creating a wiki page, and supports the same rich formatting capabilities.

Tasks

CubeTree provides a great way to track tasks. You can track your own personal tasks as well as those assigned to you from co-workers, or to co-workers.

You can assign a task to a co-worker by going to their profile page.

Give Task

Once you've created a task, you can add a description and an optional due date.

Add Description and Due Date

Once you assign the action to a co-worker, they'll receive an email notifying them of a new task.

On your profile you can re-organize the priority of each task.

In addition to creating tasks from your profile you can also create them during a feed conversation.

File Sharing

CubeTree is a better way to share files in your organization than a traditional portal.

It's really easy to upload a file.

Upload a file

In addition to uploaded documents, you can also keep your CubeTree account synchronized with Google Docs

Google Docs feed item(s)

Once uploaded, it will appear in the list of documents on your profile page. This makes it easy for others to find not only the most recent version of a document, but also all the documents you've shared. By sorting the list via the most recent uploads and showing you how many other people downloaded that file, you'll quickly be able to find the most popular files.

Profile Document Tab

In addition to the document being available via your profile, a feed item will be sent to all your followers.

You can optionally get an email the first time the document is downloaded.

And finally, you can easily search for documents. Search looks at not only the title and description of a file but also inside the files as well.

Groups

Within CubeTree, content that you post from your profile is generally visible to your followers as well as the organization at large. You might sometimes want to have a different set of access controls to your content. Groups allow you to do that. There are three types of groups within CubeTree: public groups that anyone can view or join; private groups where you control who has access; and cross-company groups when you want to connect with people outside your company, like your marketing agency. You can connect to groups just like you connect to people, by following them.

Link Sharing

CubeTree makes it incredibly easy for you to share links with your co-workers. You can post the links from with-in CubeTree:

Or from Google Reader...

Or post any items on Delicious in your CubeTree folder.

Once you post a link on CubeTree we'll keep track of how often a link is clicked on. We'll send you an optional email the first time it's viewed. And if it's viewed enough it will show up on the most visited links in your organization.

Photos

CubeTree's photo sharing feature is specifically designed around sharing two types of photos: photos of people and photos of whiteboards.

Tagged Photos

Another common usage of CubeTree’s photo sharing is to share pictures of whiteboards with remote workers. When a meeting has participants at multiple sites, you can take a quick snapshot of the whiteboard with a smartphone. The CubeTree iPhone client helps share the snapshot with all the participants, so that everyone in the meeting can better understand what's being discussed.

Polls

Polls are a simple way to gather feedback from a range of people in your organization. Because of the power of social network, CubeTree polls are much more powerful than a traditional email-based poll.

Creating a poll is easy and flexible.

Adding a poll

It's also easy to vote in a poll.

Vote while the poll is in the feed

Because users see when other people vote, a poll can gather momentum and increase its response rate and reach new people.

And finally, everything is tabulated in one place so you can see who voted for what.

Trip Itinerary Sharing

Traveling to a different location of your company or to meet with a customer? CubeTree makes it easy to broadcast your travels by synching with systems like Google Calendar or TripIt.

By sharing upcoming meetings or trips with your co-workers, you can dramatically improve the visibility of your activities as well as their productivity. You have complete control over which trips are broadcast and which remain private.
