About CubeTree - Executive Management Team and Origins

Carlin and Ross founded CubeTree in 2008 based on their experience working together at Symantec. They saw a tremendous opportunity to change the way employees at large, geographically distributed companies interact and innovate.

With CubeTree, employees can:

  • share ideas across their organization
  • get feedback from people with whom they wouldn't normally interact
  • find thought leaders
  • form ad hoc groups that cut across organizational boundaries

In addition to empowering employees, CubeTree also includes policy controls that give HR and IT administrators the ability to ensure the product complies with corporate policies.

CubeTree is delivered as a software service and is designed for enterprises ranging from start-ups to Global 500 companies.

CubeTree's seed round came from Mitch Kapor. "Social networking technologies are profoundly changing the way people connect with family and friends. At work, though, email and IM are still the dominant online communications media. I believe that is destined to change with products like CubeTree that help companies create enterprise social networks," said Mitch Kapor, an investor in CubeTree, and a software pioneer who founded many successful organizations including Lotus Development, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the Mozilla Foundation. "I invested in CubeTree because I believe that social networking technology will be at the heart of the next generation of enterprise collaboration."

CubeTree's Series A venture round was led by Trinity Ventures. CubeTree's Series B financing was led by InterWest Partners and existing investor Trinity Ventures also participated in this round. Both Gus Tai and Bruce Cleveland sit on CubeTree's Board of Directors. Jim Tybur is a Board Observer.

CubeTree is based in Redwood City, California.
